How to Do a Smokey Eye That Actually Stays
Published June 7, 2026
The classic, demystified — no muddy mess.
Start with a base
A cream shadow or eye primer gives colour something to grip so it does not crease by noon.
Build slowly
Start light, layer the depth into the outer corner and lash line, and blend in tiny circles. It is always easier to add than remove.
Lock it
Smudge a little liner into the lash line, add lashes, and set under-eye to catch fallout.
The quick checklist
- Tape the outer corner for a clean edge
- Dark in the outer V, light on the inner
- Press, don't drag, when applying
